The Warriors have lived by the “Strength In Numbers” motto ever since Steve Kerr took over as head coach in 2014.
But everyone within the Warriors’ organization knows that it’s really the strength of Steph Curry that makes the whole operation possible.
Curry has transformed the franchise from perpetually NBA draft lottery bound to the shining beacon on the mountaintop of the league. His work ethic, character, personality and all-time greatness have helped turn the Warriors into one of the most iconic dynasties in the history of the NBA.
In Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Friday night, with the Warriors’ season essentially on the line at TD Garden in Boston, Curry put the team on his back and willed them to an incredible win. He scored a game-high 43 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while dealing with a left foot injury.
Curry refused to let the Warriors fall into a three-games-to-one hole, instead sending the best-of-seven NBA Finals back to San Francisco tied two-games-apiece.
After the Warriors’ 107-97 win, Kerr spoke to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kerith Burke about Curry.
“That’s the thing that makes him special is his character, strength and character matches his skill and level of conditioning,” Kerr told Burke. “It’s all tied together. He just cares so much. He works so hard, so easy to coach. Whenever I’m done coaching, I will look back and just say thank you to Steph. Night after night. He’s made this situation for us as an organization easy for everybody. And he’s just a special, special player, special person.”
Curry authored an all-time performance in Game 4, and now he, Kerr and the Warriors are two wins away from a fourth NBA title in eight seasons. They snatched back home-court advantage from the Celtics and will look to take a three-games-to-two lead on Monday in Game 5 at Chase Center.

Dub Nation hopes they get to watch Curry dominate the league for several more years, and they hope Kerr will remain coach for a long, long time after that.
If that’s the case, the “Thank you” from Kerr to Curry will have to wait.
