The Phoenix Suns announced on Monday that they officially signed Toumani Camara. He was the team’s sole selection in this year’s NBA draft at No. 52 overall in the second round.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward finished his college career as a senior at Dayton after playing his first two years at Georgia from 2019 to 2021.
Camara was Dayton’s second-leading scorer last season as produced career-highs 13.9 points on 54.6% shooting, 8.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game. His performance earned him Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team and Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team selections. Throughout his college career, Camara had an 11-point average on 51.3% shooting and 6.9 rebounds over 125 games, including 116 starts, combined.
Known as a defensive specialist, the 23-year-old Camara will be the fourth Belgium-born player ever to play in the league when he makes his debut in this year’s NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. The other Belgium natives are 2023 Hall of Fame inductee Tony Parker, Xavier Henry and unrestricted free agent Frank Ntilikina, who played for the Dallas Mavericks last season.
The Summer League begins this Thursday and runs through July 17. Phoenix will play its first game against the Milwaukee Bucks, which airs on NBA TV, on July 8 at a 6 p.m.
