This Air Jordan from 1990 produced one of the most historic sneaker colorways of all-time, and it wasn’t even a Chicago Bulls theme. That would be the lifestyle-focused mix of teals and purples that were created to match a line of athletic apparel of the time, which sneakerheads in the forum era coined as the “Grape”. Whenever those colors convene, we can’t help but make that comparison to the Air Jordan 5, and this upcoming Air Max Plus is no exception.
Even if there was ever more a tight-knit connection between that colorway and this model, we don’t know if Nike ever laid it out as explicitly as this. The insoles actually feature an illustration of a bunch of grapes behind a Nike Air logo, which is yet another call-out to the Air Jordan 5. However, there were several different Nike Basketball models in the early 1990s that were also painted with “Grape”, so these could just be a general homage to that era.
