Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving was the best player on the team in the 114-105 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday. Irving scored 27 points on 17 shots and dished out five assists in the winning effort.

Irving started off the game hot as he made six of nine shots in the first half. He did anything he wanted to do on the floor as the Nets led by as many as 36 over the course of the game. More to the point, Irving has scored at least 20 points in seven consecutive games as he looks to be in a great offensive rhythm.

Irving spoke on the win and why the Nets were able to pull out the win despite letting the Raptors make a furious comeback in the fourth quarter:

“Just wanted to get off to a good start against a good team and do everything necessary to win. Just playing with a lot more confidence, everybody is accepting their role, and I think we’re just catching a good rhythm right now so we just want to keep it going.

It starts on the defensive end for us. We said that in the beginning of the season and when we’re clicking on all cylinders like that on the defensive end, it makes the game and the night a lot easier. Feels like we had control of the game since the first quarter and we were able to play the game the right way. Feels like we gave up a lot of opportunities and open looks, we were just being too passive.”
