As play begins on Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers are the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference percentage points ahead of the Boston Celtics in the East standings. They are also sitting half a game back of the Milwaukee Bucks and they are also sitting 1.5 games back of the Miami Heat for the top seed.

Until the conclusion of the regular season on April 10, we are going to regularly update the Eastern Conference standings and where the Sixers are at on an everyday basis while also taking a look at who they could possibly face in the Eastern Conference.

Thursday’s most prominent games (March 24)

The Milwaukee Bucks knocked off the Washington Wizards 114-102 which moved the Bucks into the 2 seed in the East. Philadelphia has one more matchup with the Bucks on March 29 at the Wells Fargo Center with the season series tied at 1-1.

The Toronto Raptors also knocked off the Cleveland Cavaliers 117-104 which moved them into a tie for the 6 seed with the Cavs in the standings. Cleveland does own the tiebreaker which means if the season ended today, Philadelphia would take on the Cavaliers in Round 1 of the playoffs.

Another big game was the New Orleans Pelicans coming up with a 126-109 win over the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls are now just one game ahead of Cleveland and Toronto for the No. 5 seed and they could be another possible matchup for the Sixers.

Friday’s most relevant games (March 25)

The Sixers have a matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday as they continue their 3-game road trip. While the head-to-head matchup with the Clippers won’t mean anything, they still need to be able to come up with wins to keep their positioning.

Possible playoff matchups

As it stands at the moment, the Sixers are sitting at No. 3 entering Friday’s play. The Cavaliers are the current No. 6 seed, but they are tied with the Raptors and the Bulls are the No. 5 seed and are only one game ahead of Cleveland and Toronto. Add in the fact that the Brooklyn Nets are three games back of the Cavs for the No. 6 seed, there is a lot of movement to make.
