Katie Boulter has opened up on her relationship with fellow tennis star Alex de Minaur as she looks to light up Wimbledon again this year.

Boulter made the third round of last year’s tournament for the first time in her career, and became Britain’s new number one after claiming her first WTA title at the Nottingham Open earlier this month.

Her boyfriend, De Minaur, went one step better at Wimbledon in 2022 by progressing to the last 16, and has also been in fine form on the grass this year, making the final at Queen’s before losing to Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.

Both players look well-set to star at SW19 next month, and Boulter has now lifted the lid on how they first got together.

‘On the tennis tour, you see a lot of people but you don’t necessarily know them,’ she explained to Tatler magazine after featuring on their front cover, adding that the pair were originally on ‘hi, bye’ terms.

But that all changed when De Minaur asked Boulter on a coffee date, with the Brit joking ‘and that was the end for me’.

With the duo playing tournaments all over the world it has been far from easy for them to see each other regularly during their three-year relationship.

But FaceTime and trying to ‘follow the same continents so we’re in the same time zones’ has allowed the couple to keep going strong, according to Boulter.

The French Open and Wimbledon allow Boulter and De Minaur to spend ‘a couple of months together’ and the former credits the strength of their relationship to having their priorities aligned.

‘We’re on the same wavelength when it comes to our priorities,’ she insisted. ‘Tennis is where we want to be – and the rest will follow.’

Meanwhile, Cameron Norrie will be looking to pick up where he left off last year after reaching the semi-finals before losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

Norrie has been rubbing shoulders with some major stars in the US in recent months, meeting Bill Gates at Indian Wells in March prior to receiving an invite to rock star Jon Bon Jovi’s Florida mansion.

Explaining how the Bon Jovi invite came about, Norrie told Tatler: ‘Louise (Norrie’s girlfriend) knows his family. So I was in Miami and he invited me to his place for lunch and to hit with him.’

‘His house was insane… just so much cool artwork.’

Norrie’s run to the last four was the story of last year’s Wimbledon, and Prince William was in attendance when he beat David Goffin in the quarter-finals. Norrie has admitted he wouldn’t mind seeing the Prince of Wales watch him play again in the coming weeks.

‘He’s never seen me lose. It’s a 100 per cent record!’ Norrie joked.

Boulter and Norrie have the excitement of performing in front of a home crowd to look forward to, but rising star Jack Draper will not get the same luxury after being ruled out due to injury.

The 21-year-old is trying to keep his spirits high, though, and revealed to Tatler that he has not given up hope of reaching the top of the sport.

‘I guess in this sport there are so many ups and downs, but this one is tough to take’, Draper admitted. ‘The only thing for sure is that I will keep persevering.’
