Fulham 0-2 Chelsea – Premier League RECAP: Blues STUN Cottagers with two goals in quick succession as Mykhailo Mudryk nets his first goal for the club before Armando Broja strikes
‘Really well-worked goal, we spoke about Mudryk’s offensive threat.
‘The beauty of this goal is you get into this position and the easy thing is to come short, Mudryk changes the game up and runs at pace behind the defender and it’s well taken and he deserves a goal.
He will get so much confidence from that. Confidence is such a big part for players.’
HALF-TIME: Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
Mudryk and Broja with goals that will mean the world to both.

Broja skips past his man on the left hand side of the box and tries to cut it back for a tap in.
A Fulham defender is first to it.
Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
Just the two minutes of added time.
Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
Fulham have offered very little threat going forward. PLyaers like Willian need to get much more involved.
Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
The hosts win themselves a corner and Jimenez hurls himself at it, sending it about a yard wide.
Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
The visitors are in no rush. They’ve controlled possession in all their games this season and they’re in a perfect position to do just that now.
Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
30 minutes played here. Mauricio Pochettino really couldn’t have hoped for a better start.
Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
Chelsea should do better as Fulham give it away cheaply again.
They break in numbers but don’t make the most of it and the ball is eventually laid back for Enzo, who smashes it over the crossbar.
Fulham 0-2 Chelsea
Craven Cottage has been stunned into silence by that double blow.
A mountain to climb for them now.
GOAL! Fulham 0-2 Chelsea (Broja 20)
This one is all Fuham’s fault as they try to play out of the back.
Ream gives it away and the ball is played through for Broja. Ream gets back to get a foot in but plays it off the striker and it goes in.
Just 20 seconds after the restart. You wait all day for a bus and…
GOAL! Fulham 0-1 Chelsea (Mudryk 18)
It’s a lovely goal too as Colwill clips a ball over the top from the left. Mudryk controls it with his chest before slotting past the keeper.
Fulham 0-0 Chelsea
The Blues are starting to dictate the game more as expected. They’ve had 62% of the ball over the past five minutes.
Fulham 0-0 Chelsea
More cheers from the home crowd as Murdryk cuts in from the left and fires well over the bar.
Fulham 0-0 Chelsea
Things have settled down after a rather frantic start.
It’s already shaping up to be a good battle.
Fulham 0-0 Chelsea
Broja has hid head in his hands but it wouldn’t have counted anyway!
Chelsea win it back in the Fulham half and the returning forward is played through on goal. He takes it past the keeper but blazes high and wide, much to the delight of the home crowd.
The flag then goes up and he is reprieved.
Fulham 0-0 Chelsea
A bright start from the hosts who play some nice passes in the final third but can’t quite get through.
Here we go
The two teams are on their way out. Craven Cottage awaits.
‘He played deeper for me and it was necessity in a way as we didnt have that type of player, I always got the feeling he wanted to be higher and contribute in attacking sense.
‘He can play balls forward to break lines and you want to give him more to join in. I think he is a high class player and a young boy even though he has done a lot, he can pass and is smart enough to join in.
‘He has got those things and will develop more. Question is as a number 10 does he want to receive balls with back to play as that is a different skill.’
What midfield position suits him more?
‘I found it really difficult playing 10, I was a number eight and Enzo to be up there in the Premier League it is a different pace and up there everything is quicker, for me he is a number eight. Different to me as I would arrive to finish but he arrives to make final pass.
Back four is a problem for the manager with Reece James and Chilwell out. To midfield that might say to move Caicedo in at six and Gallagher further forward, can they release Enzo? That might suit Enzo. I think the midfield will rotate and change, Mudryk will be the man to give them width and be wide to allow midfielders to step in, Cole Palmer will naturally step in off the line and Broja’s attributes are wanting to run in behind.
30 minutes to kick-off
The warm-ups are underway. Not long to go now.
Lampard on Pochettino’s future
‘I think he will get it [time] and deserves it, he comes with a big pedigree, I already mentioned issues I saw and he will have his own version.
‘The XG is an indicator and you look at it and when you get in attacking areas are sometimes reliant on finishing and your players. Chelsea haven’t had that feel and it generates a negativity, even if you control games, there is a feeling amongst players, fans and staff if you dont score it becomes a recurring thing.
‘There will be tougher games where they dont have that possession, this isnt a bad team but certainly they would have wanted a better start. They will be tested a lot more.’
Some words from Pochettino
On the win over Brighton: I think it was really important as results last few not positive but Brighton gives us confidence we can out in a good performance tonight and win the game.
On Broja starting: We also have Sterling who didnt train last three days as he had a virus and not in starting 11, option to play Broja we see yesterday and today I think he is ready and maybe not 90 minutes but he can be an impact from the start, hopefully he can live with the competition after a long period where he didnt play, the chances we have had we prefer to pick the option for him to play as he is a striker who need confidence and fitness as Raheem cant play from the beginning.
On Gallagher playing deeper: It is about form and how the payer feels and the momentum in the situation they are in, COnor worked hard in preseason and really fit to cope with pressure to attack and defend, you can see maybe Enzo and Moises not in their best and need to improve, balance is perfect for Conor to play deeper to provide the defensive line and recover the ball he is a player who can arrive, and is a box-to-box player but can compensate different situation on the team and provide the team with best balance between defence and attack in two phases with and without the ball.
On Palmer starting: I think he was doing well when he arrived, 20 minutes against Forest and against Brighton from the beginning, only a few weeks but not many possibilities and we give him chance to start in premier league, he is a very talented player but very young.
Fulham team news
Six changes from the 2-1 EFL cup win v Norwich City on Wednesday.
Speaking on Sky Sports, the Chelsea legend said: ‘I am not completely surprised at some difficulties having lived it first hand.
‘I came into a club where it was eight months of results you dont expect from Chelsea and that is with two very good managers in Tuchel and Potter and I felt I could see some issues with confidence that comes when you dont win and motivation in the squad that comes with such a big squad, unprecedented numbers.
‘Some players felt their time was up at chelsea and I lived that feeling, you have to affect it by hiring a very good manager in Pochettino and recruitment but there is no magic wand in football with the Premier League being so unforgiving.
‘When you make so many changes there are so many variables I expected more points and they would have to a degree but it as never going to be an instant turnaround.’
State of play
Chelsea have made a shocking start to the season with just one win from their opening six matches.
The Blues sit 15th with five points while their opponets lie 12th with eight points.
