Concerns are growing about the long-term future of former British No 1 Kyle Edmund after he was ruled out of next month’s Battle of the Brits.

The ex-world No 14 and Australian Open semi-finalist will miss the England versus Scotland event in Aberdeen just before Christmas.

Edmund, still only 26, had knee surgery in the summer after a year of discomfort, and hoped he would be fit by the end of the year.

The pre-Xmas event in Scotland — which will feature the Murray brothers and Cam Norrie taking on an England side headed by Dan Evans — has named the co-captains.
