For the style of fandom or team management inspired by the career of Daryl Morey as an NBA executive, the name of the game is to get as much talent on a roster as possible and then let the capabilities of the stars you have assembled do the rest.

But building teams on paper can often leave out important elements of the human behind the talent, as the Brooklyn Nets are finding out in a way they’d likely rather not.

Sometimes, as with players like Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving, what they do and say when they aren’t playing basketball can create such large headaches that it can negate the value they bring as players.

So, considering that, does it even make sense for the Boston Celtics to consider trading for Durant now that he doesn’t want to play for a team he chose under the coach and executive he elected to play for after walking away from a winning situation on the Golden State Warriors?
