Rory McIlroy is arguably one of the most recognised stars in golf as he bids to win the upcoming Masters, which is due to get underway today.
The Northern Irishman is yet to win the coveted green jacket as he looks to complete a career Grand Slam.
Outside of the golf course, McIlroy is currently married to Erica Stroll – with the pair first meeting in 2012.
Despite meeting in 2012, it wasn’t until a few years later that the pair would enter a relationship. The Northern Irishman was engaged to tennis star Caroline Wozniacki until he called things off in 2014 despite already sending their wedding invitations.

Who is Rory McIlroy’s wife Erica Stoll and when did they meet?
Stoll was born in 1988 and was raised in Irondequoit, New York.
A keen sports fan, Stoll would enrol at The Rochester Institute of Technology and would graduate in 2008.
After graduation, Stoll would work as the manager of the Championship Volunteer Operations for the PGA of America in 2011.
It was here, when Erica was working for the PGA that she would meet her future husband McIlroy.
The pair famously met in 2012 at the Ryder Cup. McIlroy nearly missed the final round after he overslept and nearly missed it due to the time zone mix up. The Northern Irishman believed that he was off at 12.25pm, instead of 11.25am.
Stoll helped the pro golfer out by getting him a police escort to the Medinah in Illinois. McIlroy was able to make his tee time with 11 minutes to spare. Team Europe would go on to win the tournament in dramatic fashion.
At the time, McIlroy was dating Wozniacki but remained close friends with Stoll until they got together.
Speaking on the how he got together with Stoll, McIlroy told Cool FM radio: ‘We were friends for a couple of years and we knew each other sort of from the golf circuit, and in summer 2014, towards the end of the summer, started to spend a bit more time together and it went from there.’

When did they get married?
A few months after he called off his engagement with Wozniacki in 2014, McIlroy and Stoll would enter a relationship.
McIlroy proposed to Erica in 2015 while the couple were on holiday in Paris.
The proposal reportedly took place on the Champs-Elysees while the pair were walking around admiring the city.
The pair would tie the knot on April 21, 2017.
Their guest list famously included the like of Stevie Wonder, Chris Martin and Niall Horan.
McIlroy’s wedding took place on the grounds of Ashworth Castle, which is one of Ireland’s top hotels.
It was reported that the fireworks display alone was estimated to have cost more than £50,000.
The ceremony in Co Mayo itself would cost a whopping £200k.
