Star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown recently signed a historic supermax contract extension with the Celtics, making him the highest-paid player in NBA history with a five-year, $304 million deal now his.

The contract has no fifth-year player option but includes a trade kicker to give the Georgia native a modicum of control over his future and a small fiscal bump should he be dealt during the duration of the deal. The Celtics are pleased with the deal, securing a homegrown superstar for the foreseeable future with the signing.

As a result of the hit on their cap space moving forward, Boston likely has a two to three-year window to build a championship-contending team — a problem many teams in the league would kill to have.

On a recent episode of the NBC Sports Boston”Arbella Early Edition” show, hosts Trenni Casey, Chris Forsberg, Tom Giles, and Amina Smith in talking through what the deal means for the Celtics’ future. Check it out in the clip embedded above!
