What off-court things Iguodala wants to do in final season originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Andre Iguodala is taking it all in during the 2022-23 NBA season, which will be his last season as a professional.
After announcing Friday that this upcoming season will be his last, Iguodala explained what he wants to experience on each and every road trip.
“Every city that I encounter, I really want to tap into something I’ve never seen before, whether it be a museum, or if I’m in Chicago, I’m going to Au Cheval, I want to get the best burger,” Iguodala told “Point Forward” co-host Evan Turner. “That’s what I’m looking forward to — the experiences, the last bus rides with the fellas, the last plane rides.”
Additionally, Iguodala said that while he knows the end of his career is just over the horizon, he is still trying to figure out how to approach it all.
“At the same time, I don’t know how to be one foot in, one foot out,” Iguodala said. “So in terms of competing, I’m going to be naturally myself in terms of like, ‘I’m going to be there early, I’m going to get my reps.”
With his career coming to a close, Iguodala told Turner that the reason why he wants to experience what every city has to offer is that he hasn’t had the opportunity to do so in the past.
Iguodala recalled moments when he was in different countries for certain tournaments and championships and he never really explored where he has because he was so focused on basketball, much like another great player.
“I went overseas to play basketball and I was like locked in,” Iguodala said to Turner. “Playing in the World Championships, Istanbul is one of my favorite cities but I really didn’t get to see Istanbul because I was so entrenched into what Kobe Bryant said to do, just all in.
“London, I didn’t even see London when I was there. I’ve been to China 10 times and really haven’t still seen China because I was so focused on the game.”

Although the four-time NBA champion will see his on-court production decrease, he can still give advice to the young players around him including Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and more.
That said, considering Iguodala has, at most, 100 games left in his NBA career, including the playoffs, perhaps now is the best time for him to experience what each city has to offer.
