Earlier, Australia National Cricket Team won the toss and invited India National Cricket Team to bat first in the match. Tim David made his debut for the Aussies. On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah was not a part of India playing XI and Umesh Yadav, Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the three frontline pacers. Also, Dinesh Karthik was picked ahead of Rishabh Pant.

The Aussie bowlers performed well in the powerplay overs and they were able to pick the wickets of modern-day batting greats – Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Rohit was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood in the 3rd over and Kohli was dismissed by Nathan Ellis in the 5th over. At the end of the powerplay, the Men In Blue were at 46/2.

Opener KL Rahul played some fantabulous-looking shots in the match and smashed 55 runs off 35 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. He was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood in the 12th over.

Meanwhile, India’s highest-ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav played an explosive knock as he smashed 46 runs off 25 balls, including 2 fours and 4 sixes, before being dismissed by Cameron Green in the 14th over.

In the end, Dinesh Karthik and Axar Patel contributed only 6 runs each. However, Hardik Pandya played an absolutely fantastic knock as he smashed 71 runs off 30 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes, to help India post 208/6 on the board.

Chasing the target, openers Aaron Finch and Cameron Green provided Australia with a flying start. Both the batters played explosive innings and after 3 overs Aussies were at 38/0. In the 4th over, left-arm spinner Axar Patel got the first breakthrough for his side as he castled Finch for 22.

Axar also got rid of the dangerous-looking Cameron Green in the 11th over. The young Aussie all-rounder smashed 61 runs off 30 balls, including 8 fours and 4 sixes, before getting out.

In the end, Indian pacers Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled poorly. Aussie wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade played a stellar knock of 45* runs and Tim David chipped in crucial 18 runs to help Australia complete the humongous run-chase and take a lead in the series.
