Several Boston Celtics alumni got on the board in the French National Team’s 96-90 loss to the National Team of Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday. Former Celtics shooting guard Evan Fournier led France with his 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals, while a pair of former Boston big men also managed solid outings in the FIBA World Cup qualifier loss.
Big man Guerschon Yabusele had an outstanding 16 points, 7 boards, 2 blocks, and a steal, while ex-Celtics center Vincent Poirier chipped in another 4 points, 4 rebounds, an assist and as many steals in the Eurobasket losing effort.
Fournier in particular had a rough night in terms of efficiency, shooting just 7-of-19 from the field overall, but made up for it beyond the arc, connecting on 46.3% of his shots from deep.
His 6 turnovers and 4 personal fouls did not help France’s cause, but expect the 2020 Olympic Silver medalists to bounce back moving forward.
