Thunder Rookie Chet Holmgren Feared To Have Torn Ligaments In Foot

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren has reportedly been diagnosed with ligament damage in his foot, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Holmgren is feared to have suffered torn ligaments in his foot and will undergo further medical opinions on the injury. The timetable for Holmgren to return is currently unknown and will be determined based on further evaluations.

The second pick may have first suffered the injury on Saturday in the CrawsOver Pro-Am in Seattle, Washington. He was seen attempting to defend a layup attempt by LeBron James but came up limping afterward and eventually left the game.

Dozens of players have participated in various pro-ams throughout the country this summer. The decision to play often creates enormous buzz among fans to see their favorite players suit up in these events but it also comes with some injury risk.

The Thunder have not yet announced the injury to Holmgren but will likely provide an update in the coming days. Depending on the severity of the injury, Holmgren could miss the start of training camp, which will begin late next month.

Holmgren and the Thunder will certainly hold out hope the injury is not too serious but it appears as though the team will start the season without its big offseason addition.
