It’s no secret that Payton Pritchard wants to get on the court even if it means a trade from the Boston Celtics, with the Oregon alum saying as much toward the end of the 2022-23 season. Should the Celtics elect to deal Pritchard as they seek to rebalance their roster, they shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a partner according to an interview by Heavy’s Steve Bulpett with an anonymous opposing general manager.
“There’s definitely interest in him around the league, for sure,” they related. “(…) He’s no different than anybody else. They just want a chance to prove they’re better than an every third game for 10 minutes kind of player.”
“You don’t really feel like you’re part of winning when it’s like that,” they continued.
“I want to be part of a winning culture but I want to also help that, be a really big piece of that,” shared Pritchard on an episode of the “Point Forward” podcast back in late January.
“I’m not saying it’s the best player on the team but I don’t know what my future holds unless I can take that next step.”
Whether that next step is in Boston or elsewhere, one thing is clear — it’s paining the Oregon native to not have the runway to take it.
