Not even a full 24 hours after shaking hands with Jack Niklaus after winning the Memorial Tournament, Viktor Hovland was seen on the course again – this time, as a caddy.

Roughly 25 minutes away from ‘Jack’s Place’ – Muirfield Village – Hovland was seen on the bag of college teammate and former roommate Zach Bauchou as he went through the final round of US Open qualifying at The Lakes Golf & Country Club outside of Columbus, Ohio.

Hovland was seen lugging his friend’s bag – five years after the Norwegian and four-time PGA Tour winner departed Oklahoma State University.

Bauchou will need to post one of the eleven best scores in a crowded field of 103 golfers spread across two courses in Columbus to make the 123rd U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club in California.

Of the ten final qualifiers being played today, Columbus has the biggest field and also has the most spots to give out at eleven.

He’s played in a number of events on the Korn Ferry Tour and made his PGA Tour debut this year at the Mexico Open back in April.

As for the man on his bag, Hovland just completed a magnificent comeback to win the Memorial – winning in a playoff over Denny McCarthy.

It’s the second win this season for the Norwegian, after he was victorious in the Hero World Challenge by two shots over Scottie Scheffler.

Hovland is not in the field for this weekend’s RBC Canadian Open in Toronto.
