I’m including these because I witnessed an unbelievable moment of misinformation in action a few weeks ago. I saw these on the release schedule, and was reminded of a time when I, The Newsletter Guy, stood face-to-face with Rich Paul and was astonished at the man’s diminutive stature. Now, this is not a knock on a successful Short King, not at all. That’s not what I’m about. But he must have been, at best, 5’5”. I googled ‘Rich Paul height’ to check the man’s stats and I was flabbergasted, aghast, to find that websites all over Lisa Manoban’s Internet had him listed at a staggering 6’1”. Absolutely no chance. But that’s how this misinformation game works. One freelance writer on a deadline makes something up, another website takes it as a fact and runs with it, a third website sees that two websites have the same thing printed and considers that ‘fact checking’, and now it’s basically a fact that Rich Paul is 6’1”. So, in closing, The Newsletter Guy is 6’4” and benches 200kg (225kg one-rep max).
