‘That’s how injuries happen,’ says Boston’s Jaylen Brown, critical of play stoppage in Denver loss

Fans of the Boston Celtics watching the Denver Nuggets road game on Sunday evening had the pleasure of watching the arena staff work for more than half an hour to stabilize a bent rim interrupting play in the game’s second half, and they were not the only people walking away from that blip nonplussed.

Star Celtics wing Jaylen Brown voiced his concern with how the incident was handled postgame, citing concern that the stoppage in play created an injury risk to players who were no longer properly warmed up. “There was no communication,” criticized Brown of the response via NBC Sports Boston.

“They spent all that time trying to fix it, but when we came back, it still looked like it wasn’t even level, in my opinion. So we just wasted all that time.”

“That has an effect on the game. That’s how injuries happen. Luckily, that didn’t (occur), but it wasn’t good,” added the Georgia native.

“That whole process was handled poorly, in my opinion, and that had an effect as well. But luckily nobody got hurt.”
