Great Britain star Boulter, 27, wore a wide grin as she greeted De Minaur, 24, ahead of the opening round of matches on Friday, with the Aussie losing a three-set thriller against Cameron Norrie.

De Minaur and Boulter were the talk of Wimbledon earlier this year and tennis fans were eager to see the pair go toe-to-toe on court on Friday.

De Minaur kept tight-lipped on the prospect of facing Boulter, although he teased that he knows all of his girlfriend’s ‘weaknesses’ after spending countless hours watching her play.

‘I could be an option (for the doubles). I have played mixed in the past with Katie, so I know all her weaknesses!

‘I’ve watched enough of her matches to know the spots to be attacking. If we step out on court, it’s just all business.’

It was at this point that Australia captain John Millman stepped in to put the heat on his friend.

‘My missus doesn’t have any weaknesses. That’s pretty brave of you to say that (about Katie),’ Millman said.

‘You’re in trouble. (You) might be sleeping on the pullout in my room tonight.’

In the end, De Minaur and Boulter did not cross paths as the pair played in singles matches.

Boulter showed she is in fine fettle heading into next month’s Australian Open, beating Aussie rival Ajla Tomljanovic in straight sets to seal an unassailable 2-0 lead and give Britain victory in their opening tie.

Earlier this week, Boulter flaunted her romantic Christmas spent with De Minaur, posting a series of loved-up photos on Instagram.
