Tennis fans have come up with an outrageous theory that the infamous ‘700 drinks’ woman from the Wimbledon men’s tennis final between Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic was Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Tennis took a back seat in the third set when Kyrgios, well known for his exchanges with crowds, implored the chair umpire to remove an allegedly intoxicated woman in the stands who kept interrupting him during points.
‘She’s drunk out of her mind in the first row, talking to me in the middle of the game… The one with the dress,’ he said.
‘With the dots?’ asked chair umpire Renaud Lichtenstein.
‘The one who looks like she’s had about 700 drinks, bro,’ Kyrgios fired back.
Online detectives were quick to claim that Middleton was wearing a dress with polka dots in the front row where Kyrgios was pointing.
However it has since been revealed that the culprit was 32-year-old Polish medical lawyer Ania Palus who was also wearing a polka-dot dress. She claims to have only had two alcoholic drinks and was given water before being allowed back to watch the rest of the final after a 15 minute break.
The Duchess – who attended the event with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and her son Prince George – wore a two-piece ensemble by Alessandra Rich in navy blue and white polka dots.
Kate’s top featured short sleeves and a ruffled peplum waist, while her skirt fell loosely to her calves. Her white stiletto heels and silver watch completed the look.
‘The fact that he [Kyrgios] won’t point to the specific woman or say her name makes me wonder if it was Kate Middleton,’ one fan posted on Twitter.
‘He said ‘the woman wearing DOTS in the FRONT ROW’. Kate was the ONLY ONE wearing polka dots,’ claimed another.
The footage of the incident only focused on Kyrgios’ exchange with chair umpire Lichtenstein and never panned to the crowd.
The identity of the woman Kyrgios singled out was not immediately revealed, but he said nothing about the Duchess being involved when he discussed the incident after his defeat.
And had a spectator of Middleton’s immense fame acted badly in any way, it would have been picked up immediately by media outlets everywhere.

In his post-match press conference, Kyrgios discussed the rowdy spectator, saying she repeatedly spoke to him between points. ‘That’s when she might need a drink of water or to go outside’, he said.
A journalist added: ‘You might find this interesting but since she’s said that she had two drinks and she was actually rooting for you from the start. What do you make of that?’
A gobsmacked Kyrgios replied: ‘That doesn’t make it OK to start talking to Nick Kyrgios, who’s playing a final of Wimbledon, middle of the point. Why are you trying to make that OK? What?’

The ‘700 drinks’ incident was seized upon by online pundits with the moment attracting almost as much attention as the match itself.
One woman posted a hilarious image of former British prime minister Theresa May downing a glass of wine at the tennis with the caption ‘700 and 1 hun’ and a waving hand emoji.
May has been spotted partying and celebrating in recent days after Boris Johnson stepped down as prime minister.
The incident also brought back memories for many tennis fans from the Australian Open when a heavily intoxicated woman was ejected from the stadium for abusing eventual champion Rafael Nadal.
The woman, who only wanted to be known as ‘Lisa’, later defended her actions, which included swearing at Nadal, giving him the middle finger and calling him ‘OCD’.
‘The only reason I happened to be at the match is because I wanted a ticket to see the previous female match between Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina and I stuck around to watch the boring Nadal,’ she said.
‘The very fact that apparently pictures of me have gone viral, even around the world, reflects on how incredibly boring his matches are, because why would you want to focus on a spectator?’
