When a team has success like the Philadelphia 76ers have been having, there are going to be other teams whether in the NBA or in the college ranks looking to take from that team in order to improve their own.

Philadelphia’s Temple University is looking for a new coach after parting ways with Aaron McKie after four seasons on the job. McKie, who played parts of eight seasons with the Sixers, was 52-56 as coach of the Owls.

As Temple begins to conduct their new search for a head coach, they have its eyes on Sixers assistant Sam Cassell. The former All-Star has been on coach Doc Rivers’ staff for all three of his seasons in Philadelphia and he was an assistant with Rivers while with the Los Angeles Clippers.

At this point, Cassell will be focusing more on his job with the Sixers and ensuring that Philadelphia is in a good spot to compete for a championship. He is primed to be a head coach at some point, however, so one has to figure that he will look into the Temple position sooner rather than later.
