Only twice has Surya scored above 30 in the time frame, with a best score of 34 not out. More than 50 % of his innings in the last one year have been single-digit scores. His overall numbers stand at 433 runs in 21 games at a woeful average of 27.06. For context, Sanju Samson, who is unavailable for selection averages 66 in ODIs.
In contrast, Surya averages a mindboggling 46.52 in T20Is. He has a 50+ score in every three innings in the shortest format for India and has 3 centuries already under his belt. In ODIs, Surya has only managed two fifties in 21 games so far.
