Although the Warriors’ five-game win streak ended with their 122-119 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday at Chase Center, coach Steve Kerr is proud of the squad.
In the Warriors’ last six games, their injury list has included Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, James Wiseman, JaMychal Green and Andre Iguodala.
However, despite its health challenges, Golden State has stayed afloat. The Warriors are currently the ninth seed and sit five games below the first-place Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference.
“I just told the guys how proud I am of them for holding down the fort these last couple of weeks,” Kerr told reporters after the loss. “Tonight was tough but given the state of our roster and to win five of six home games over this stretch… it’s impressive.”
Kerr has gone to the end of the team’s bench and asked players like Anthony Lamb and Ty Jerome to step into roles they didn’t expect this season.

Lamb and Jerome are averaging 11 points per game during the Warriors’ last six contests.
While Golden State has dealt with injuries, it also has also found players capable of stepping up in crucial situations.
And they’ll certainly need more of that to defend their NBA championship.
