It goes without saying that any footwear needs Stephen Curry may have nowadays are completely sorted out, given that he has his own sub-brand with Under Armour. But that wasn’t always the case for the Golden State Warriors guard.

In the latest episode of Complex’s Sneaker Shopping, host Joe La Puma asks Curry about his earliest sneaker memories. The four-time NBA Champion recalls a time when boxes of sneakers would show up at his doorstep for his father, legendary NBA marksman Dell Curry. Stephen explains that he’d convinced himself the sneakers fit, despite Dell wearing a larger shoe size, before later confirming that he actually wore a men’s size 12.5 the whole time.

“All the way up to my rookie year in the league, I said I wore a 14,” Curry says. “There’s a picture of me in a pre-season game in my rookie year and I’m like cutting to the basket, you can see the whole toe box is like flipped over.”

“I could have had like 10 more points a game,” he jokes.

In the episode, Stephen also speaks on the impact he wants to leave with his Curry Brand both on and off the court, his sneaker superstitions, talking sneakers with President Barack Obama, and more. Check out the latest episode of Sneaker Shopping above.
