Steph’s perfect joke about adding Dream Shake to loaded bag originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

How deep is Steph Curry’s bag?

Even the Warriors star isn’t sure how far he can reach into it before he hits the bottom.

Curry’s depth was on display early on in Golden State’s 123-109 opening-night victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday at Chase Center, when the point guard hit the Dream Shake for his first bucket of the 2022-23 NBA season.

And after the game, Curry hinted it might not be the last time Dub Nation sees the move.

“We’ll see,” Curry told reporters with a shrug after the game when asked if the Dream Shake is now part of his repertoire.

“I’m 2-for-2, preseason and tonight, but I don’t think coach will call plays to put me in the post yet, so I’ve got to keep digging deep into the bag for different stuff.”

What Curry lacks in size, he certainly makes up for in creativity when it comes to posting up.

With the Warriors up 9-6 early in the first quarter, Curry tried driving past Lakers swingman Lonnie Walker IV to the basket with a behind-the-back dribble. Walker slapped the ball away from Curry beneath the hoop, but the reigning NBA Finals MVP recovered the ball.

That’s where things got fun for Curry as he made Walker look silly, pivoting to one side then the other with his own version of the Dream Shake before hitting a fade-away jumper.

The Dream Shake, developed by legendary NBA big man Hakeem Olajuwon in the late 1980s, is just the latest move Curry has pulled from his ever-growing bag of tricks.

At 34 years old, he’s showing no signs of slowing down in his 14th season, either, after finishing Tuesday’s win with a game-high 33 points along with seven assists, six rebounds and four steals.

And with the Warriors’ quest to repeat as NBA champions now officially underway, there’s no telling how Curry will wow fans — or torch defenders — next.
