Six months after their volatile clash at Wimbledon, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nick Kyrgios’s rivalry rumbles on after the Greek star labelled his nemesis ‘a devil’ in Netflix’s brand new tennis documentary.

On Friday, the streaming giant released Break Point – a docuseries following a number of the sport’s brightest stars as they looked to step out of the shadow of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Kyrgios is the star of the first episode of the series, The Maverick, and by way of introducing the 27-year-old to viewers, the producers asked a series of figures in the sport to describe him.

Matteo Berrettini labelled Kyrgios as ‘probably the most talented tennis player from our generation,’ while John McEnroe said: ‘I think he’s the most talented player I’ve seen in 10 years.’

But when asked by Netflix to share his view on Kyrgios, Tsitsipas was less diplomatic.

‘He’s not a bad guy, he just becomes a devil when he enters the court,’ the world No.4 said.

It’s not the first time that Tsitsipas has resorted to name-calling when discussing Kyrgios. The 24-year-old shared an explosive fourth-round match with his rival at Wimbledon last year, which Kyrgios won in four sets.

Kyrgios’s antics during the match – in which he called for Tsitsipas to be disqualified while venting his fury at the umpire – did not go down well with the Greek star.

‘I don’t like people that put other people down,’ he said. ‘He has some good traits in his character, as well. But he also has a very evil side to him, which if it’s exposed, it can really do a lot of harm and bad to the people around him.

‘I really hope all us players can come up with something and make this a cleaner version of our sport, have this kind of behaviour not accepted.’

In response, Kyrgios said: ‘I’m not sure how I bullied him. He was the one hitting balls at me, he was the one that hit a spectator, he was the one that smacked it out of the stadium.

‘I didn’t do anything. Apart from me just going back and forth to the umpire for a bit, I did nothing towards Stefanos that was disrespectful, I don’t think. I was not drilling him with balls.’
