Stashed Boston Celtics floor general Yam Madar had one of his best games yet in EuroBasket play for the Israeli National Team, but it was not enough to beat the Polish National Team, Poland winning the early Monday contest 85-76.
The Beit Dagan native put up 17 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal, and as many blocks in the loss, shooting 5-of-8 from the field overall, a sizzling 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe in just under 21 minutes of floor time. Madar turned the ball over only one time in the game and avoided picking up any personal fouls for one of his most complete contests at this level of play.
Even so, Israel needed more than what Madar alone could provide, falling to 2-1 in Group D play with Poland taking the top spot in their group over Israel in second place.
