Sixers and Nets scheduled to play preseason game in Brooklyn originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Sixers and Nets will meet again in October.

Brooklyn released its preseason schedule on Monday morning, and it includes an Oct. 3 home game against the Sixers.

A much-hyped March 10 matchup at Wells Fargo Center was the last Sixers-Nets game. The Sixers dropped that contest by 29 points.

“I just thought they played harder,” head coach Doc Rivers said. “They were more aggressive; they played in our air space all night; I thought they were the more physical team all night. I didn’t think we played together tonight. It was a great example of a team that hasn’t been together early on and everybody was going to try to do it themselves, and you could see that early on. I think at one point it was 17 to four in assists. They were moving it, we didn’t. And then, to me, the stops. We didn’t get any stops early.”

As was the case that evening, Ben Simmons will presumably be a prominent storyline in one way or the other. After being traded to Brooklyn in February, Simmons did not return to in-game action. He had back surgery in May and, per the Nets, is expected to be available for training camp. His last NBA appearance was June 20, 2021.

Simmons initially held out of training camp last year. The news that he’d arrived in Philadelphia broke during a Sixers preseason win over the Nets.

We’ll see just how much drama is swirling in Brooklyn come October. Kevin Durant reportedly requested a trade a few hours before the start of free agency, but the 12-time All-Star remains a Net.
