The Philadelphia 76ers star duo of Joel Embiid and James Harden are so skilled and talented as they are two of the best offensive players in the league. Embiid led the league in scoring in the 2021-22 season and despite an obvious lost step, Harden is still tough to stop on offense.
They are also elite at drawing contact and getting the opposition into foul trouble. Embiid averaged 11.8 free throw attempts per game in the 2021-22 season and Harden, in 21 games with the Sixers, averaged 8.9 free throws per game. The two of them were tough to stop as the opposition had no choice but to foul them.
For their careers, Embiid attempts 9.6 free throws per game while Harden attempts 8.7 per game. That is the highest active free throw attempts per game number in the league.
The ability of both Embiid and Harden being able to get to the foul line is a very important aspect for the Sixers on offense. If the offense were to bog down at any moment, Philadelphia can put the ball in either of their hands and they will get to the line and allow the Sixers to get back into a flow on the offensive end. Just seeing points get up on the board is enough to get any team into a groove again.
