Sixers Get Praise For Upgrading Their Wing, Forward Spots On The Roster

The Philadelphia 76ers had a couple of goals heading into the 2022 offseason to prepare for the 2022-23 season. They needed to add to their depth at both the wing and the forward spots and they did so as they made some nice additions in free agency.

The Sixers signed PJ Tucker and Danuel House Jr. in free agency as they are expected to add toughness, defense, and 3-point shooting to this roster. Philadelphia also added De’Anthony Melton through a draft night trade and they are feeling comfortable with where they’re at with the current state of their team.

The Sixers have gotten praise for the moves they have made all offseason and Bleacher Report is no different as they list Philadelphia addressing those needs as a big win for them this offseason:

PJ Tucker and Danuel House might have been the best power forward and small forward to change teams in free agency, and both landed with the Philadelphia 76ers courtesy of a James Harden opt-out and paycut that freed up cash.

Acquired from Memphis for Danny Green and draft compensation, De’Anthony Melton could end up mattering more than either of those two. He shot 41.2 percent from deep in 2020-21 and followed it up with a 37.4 percent hit rate last year, all the while bringing intelligent passing and tenacious defense as a combo guard. Only 24, Melton is the offseason acquisition who could become a fixture in Philly for years to come.

The Sixers now arguably have their most complete roster during the Joel Embiid era. This roster is filled with 3-and-D players, quality depth, another star player in James Harden, and Tucker and House Jr. will play big roles for this team.
