Watch: Sixers crowd reacts to Cowboys losing in OT originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
It feels like you never know you’re witnessing a legacy game until it’s nearly over. You could script up as many crazy, out-of-the-box scenarios your mind will allow you to, but even when that moment actually arrives, you’re still in disbelief.
That’s exactly what it felt like Sunday night at the Wells Fargo Center when the Sixers hosted the Jazz.
With Philly waiting one more day for the Eagles, slated to host the Commanders for Monday Night Football, all eyes turned to the Sixers. Let’s just say, you couldn’t have scripted a better performance from Joel Embiid.
Embiid went off against the Jazz, posting 59 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and seven blocks. Not to mention, this all happened in the second game of a back-to-back.
It wasn’t until the final frame though, when everyone slowly realized what they were bearing witness to.
At this point, we all know how the game ended, but maybe you missed this moment from when the night was still young?
Let’s back track to the first quarter, where the in-arena crew knew exactly what they were doing in the winding minutes.
During a break, they decided to display the Green Bay Packers’ game-winning field goal that handed the Cowboys their third loss of the season. Cheers erupted in Wells Fargo Center immediately.
But hang on, it gets better.
They then pan to a single Cowboys fan in the crowd. So naturally, as quick as the cheers came, they turned into boos.
In that moment, we should have known the Sixers would be due for greatness.
