The Boston Celtics nearly came back from a 23-point deficit vs. the New York Knicks in Las Vegas Summer League action on Friday afternoon, cutting the lead to 77-75 with 8 minutes left in the game’s final frame, and made another run at the Knicks in the game’s waning moments.
But the Celtics would fall 97-89 despite a balanced effort that saw six Summer Celtics score in double figures. Dalano Banton led Boston with 18 points and 9 rebounds, Jay Scrubb added 16 points and 6 boards off of the bench, Justin Champagnie put up 14 points, Jordan Walsh 13, and Olek Balcerowski 11 points, and 6 rebounds.
The loss puts the Sin City Celtics at 1-3 so far in Las Vegas Summer League play, with Boston set to take on the Orlando Magic summer league squad tomorrow, July 15 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
