The Brooklyn Nets have an interesting offseason ahead of them as they try to figure out where they want to go as an organization in terms of going all-in for a championship or embracing a full rebuild. On top of handling Cam Johnson’s restricted free-agency and where Ben Simmons fits in, another area of discussion is starting center Nic Claxton’s future.

The former 31st overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Georgia, Claxton is coming off a season where he made huge strides on both ends of the floor. He achieved career-highs across the boards as he finished the 2022-23 season averaging 12.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game while shooting 70.5% from the field.

Claxton has one more year left on his contract and is set to earn $8.75 million for the 2023-24 season. There hasn’t been much chatter about what Claxton could earn on the open market, but there may be some chatter about an extension as the offseason goes on.
