Brooks Koepka launched a foul-mouthed tirade at two officials after disputing a controversial rules call during defeat by Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia at Whistling Straits.

Koepka turned the air blue after he and playing partner Daniel Berger demanded a free drop after landing in trouble at the par-four 15th during the morning foursomes.

Koepka was adamant a drain would have interfered with his follow through after Berger had stuck him in deep rough with his tee shot.

The match referee, however, told the four-time major champion to get on with it and play the shot and that riled both Koepka and Berger.

They demanded a second opinion from another official, causing a long delay, but when the second official did arrive, he agreed with his colleague.

That enraged the Americans, who were in a bad mood anyway having blown a three-hole lead to trail by one playing the 15th. ‘If I break my wrist, it’s on the f****** both of you,’ Koepka snarled, pointing at each official.

The officials, having stood their ground, were proved right when not only did Koepka successfully play his mid-iron without injury, but also stuck it on the green.

Koepka and Berger went on to lose the next two holes, though, to crash to a 3&1 loss.

In a separate incident, Bryson DeChambeau threw a tantrum after being asked to make a short putt by opponents Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland.

The American tapped in from 2ft 7in and then petulantly laid his putter down on the ground from the hole and stared angrily at the Europeans.
