Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook took a rare trip to Oklahoma City in order to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony of an outdoor futsal court in a local high school that was funded by his Why Not? Foundation.

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt was in attendance and spoke beforehand, where he thanked Westbrook for his continuous contributions to the city he spent the first 11 seasons of his NBA career.

“When (Westbrook) walked out today, I said, ‘Welcome home,’” said Holt. “I’m gonna say that every single time he steps foot in Oklahoma City because of all the memories he left.”

Westbrook then spoke afterward and said that Oklahoma City will always be his home and will continue to help the city out despite not playing for the Thunder for nearly three years now.
