Rick Barry is a Golden State Warriors legend, having spent six years with the franchise between 1972 and 1978, where he made the All-Star team in each season and helped guide the franchise to a championship in 1975. However, these days Barry is better known for his hot takes on the modern NBA.

Recently, the Warriors alumn went viral for questioning whether Jaylen Brown was worth his supermax contract extension, much to the chagrin of Boston Celtics fans. However, during a conversation with Eric Jay Santos of Sports Illustrated, Barry took a more positive note as he shared his thoughts on who is the face of the NBA.

“To me, the biggest face of the NBA is Stephen Curry because more people can relate to him,” Barry said. “A normal, everyday human being can’t relate to LeBron James. He’s an anomaly… a big, powerful guy, and there are not many people like LeBron James. There are people who look like Stephen Curry, are built like Stephen Curry, but they don’t play basketball like Stephen Curry.”

Curry has sat atop of the NBA for over a decade and is one of the greatest point guards the league has ever seen. To Barry’s point, Curry is certainly a more relatable player than LeBron due to his everyday demeanor and the charisma he brings whenever in front of the cameras.

At age-35, Curry is entering the final stretch of his career, yet, there is no doubt that he remains one of the most popular players in the NBA, regardless of what team they follow.
