Hideki Matsuyama has suffered an injury scare just a week before his US Masters defence.
The world number 12, who became the first Japanese male major champion when he won by one stroke at Augusta last year, withdrew from the Valero Texas Open on Friday with a neck problem.
Matsuyama pulled out after playing nine holes of his second round in San Antonio and could now be a doubt for the Masters, which begins next Thursday.
A tweet from the PGA Tour read: ‘Hideki Matsuyama WD during round two of the Valero Texas Open with a neck injury.’
