PGA Tour golfer Erik Compton was arrested after allegedly throwing his wife into a wall during an argument at their Florida home.
Compton, the world No 1065 who finished tied for second at the 2014 US Open, was held on felony and misdemeanor charges in Miami-Dade County.
According to police, Compton and his wife were having an argument over ‘relationship issues’ when matters escalated after she took out her cellphone and began to record.
Compton, 43, is accused of grabbing the phone out of her hand and throwing it into their swimming pool.

The golfer then allegedly grabbed her by the shoulders and threw her into a wall. Compton’s wife is said to have suffered small bruises on her left arm.
She then left the house, driving to a friend’s house, and called the police. Compton was arrested on charges of strong-armed robbery — a second-degree felony — and misdemeanor battery.
He declined to speak to police about the incident, according to reports.
The 43-year-old turned professional in 2001 and has a career-high world ranking of 71. He has never won a PGA Tour event but has made nearly $5million in prize money.
Compton is perhaps best known for survivng viral cardiomyopathy, a condition which sees the heart become inflamed and struggle to pump blood effectively.
Compton was forced to have two heart transplants, the second of which came when he was just 28.
