Sam Edelman is jumping feet-first into the resale world.
The lifestyle brand on Tuesday launched the ReLove resale program, tapping the expertise of secondhand technology platform Archive.
“At Sam Edelman, we take pride in using the highest quality materials to design pieces that are made to last,” Jesse Edelman, the company’s general manager and senior vice president, said. “With ReLove, we can extend the life of our products while giving our customers another choice when buying our shoes.”

Aside from sneaker resale—a market pegged at $30 billion by 2030, according to Cowen—the footwear market overall has been somewhat slower to embrace the pre-owned opportunity. But Sam Edelman marks the third brand to partner with Archive in recent months, joining the likes of Sarah Flint and Ariat. Allbirds and On have established programs powered by Trove, while Steve Madden and Frye debuted with Recurate.
“We are excited to partner with Sam Edelman to introduce resale to the brand’s customer for the first time through the launch of the ReLove program,” Emily Gittins, CEO and co-founder of Archive, said. “ReLove is custom designed to be an extension of the brand and to ensure that beloved Sam Edelman pieces can live multiple lives.”
Consumers using the program select the Sam Edelman pieces they want to sell on the peer-to-peer platform. The company recommends a listing price based on the item’s condition and the original value, but sellers can choose their own price range. On average, items sell for about half the original price. Once sold, sellers then ship their pieces to the buyer with a prepaid USPS shipping label. And once the buyer receives and accepts their item, sellers either receive 70 percent of the resale price in cash or 100 percent in credit toward their next Sam Edelman purchase, excluding ReLove.
All sales are final and returns aren’t accepted, but buyers can sell their purchases back on the resale platform. The Caleres footwear brand doesn’t guarantee the existence, quality or authenticity of the items advertised nor the truth or accuracy of the sellers’ content or listings on the service. But purchases are protected; Sam Edelman will refund the buyer if their item never ships or has been misrepresented by the seller.
