In this day and age of fast-moving information on social media, it’s quite easy for a cult classic to become a mainstream hit in a short span. The quick-paced movement of trends has made it challenging for the entirety of the fashion world due to the time it takes to bring product to market, because by the time what’s “in” is out, brand and retailer could be sitting on a load of stock that is moving as a far slower pace than expected.
We’re experiencing that conundrum right now with the Zoom Vomero 5. It’s a stylish shoe, and there are ample options for anyone to pick up at their own pace, but it’s clear that the hype around the late 2000’s shoe is cooling off after its meteoric rise in early 2023. There are plenty of GR releases planned through Q4 of this year, such as this silver/orange version that just surfaced via Nike’s official images.
This latest colorway blends classic (via the silver overlay and white mesh base) with sport (the orange color-blocking on the cage and heel cushioning), almost as if it was created for its original intent — running.
Nevertheless, Nike is stocking these in the coming months with the standard $160 price-tag.
