The Nike Revolution 6 is an introductory running shoe that will cover all of your basic needs. It will cost you roughly $65.00 but I’ve seen this shoe on various other websites for even less.
With that being said, you really can’t beat the price. For what you get I think it’s very reasonably priced. You would have a hard time finding another shoe that beats it.
A shoe that’s similar to the Nike family would be the Winflo 8. Both offer a comfortable ride and are inexpensive. The Winflo 8 used to come in a “wide” version but in the latest iteration, there’s only one option now. The Nike Revolution 6 is offered in a “wide” option. That’s something you could take into consideration.
If we are talking about a similar shoe from another brand, I would compare it to the New Balance Fresh Foam Roav.
There isn’t a whole lot of new technology used in the Revolution 6. It offers a simple design, flexibility, and what Nike calls an “intuitive touch.” A pretty cool thing Nike is starting to do is use recycled materials in more and more of their shoes. This is the case for the Revolution 6.
It’s made up of 20 % recycled materials by weight. These materials come from post-consumer and/or post-manufactured.
Nike says “One of the biggest steps on our journey to zero carbon and zero waste is in choosing our materials because they account for more than 70% of any product’s footprint.“
Now that’s something I can get behind and would come into play when deciding to buy this shoe again. This is why the shoe is called Nike Revolution 6 “Next Nature.”
Nike Revolution 6 First Impressions

When I first opened the box, the first thing that came to mind was nothing. Nothing. It’s a very basic shoe that doesn’t have any real standout features.
I wasn’t disappointed by any means just wasn’t impressed with anything. I do like that sometimes. It’s nice to have a minimalist shoe to wear with athleisure wear. So don’t let the basicness of this shoe full you.
This is one of Nike’s most cost friendly shoes they offer and it’s worth every penny. It comes in many color combinations, but most of them are simple such as black, grey, white, etc.
I reviewed a black/ white pair with a hot pink Nike emblem. It comes true to size with it being slightly snug around the midfoot. Weighs in at 8 oz, and has a heel drop of 9mm.

If I had to pick out one area of the shoe that stood out to me, it would be the midsole of the shoe. Some indentations run the length of the foam midsole. It’s more prominent towards the heel and fades off to the toe area. It’s eye-catchy and reminds me of the New Balance 520v7s.
Lacing them up for the first time felt good. Not one thing major to complain about. They do feel narrow, but easily loosen up in a few minutes.
My first run was on a treadmill. I noticed how comfortable and breathable the upper felt right away. There wasn’t anything exciting about how they ran but, striking the ground each step felt even and soft.
Nike Revolution 6 Sole Unit

It offers a redesigned EVA foam midsole that is cushioned and supportive. It’s a foam that is not named due to it being on the low end of Nike’s price range.
Don’t get carried away and just dismiss this shoe, it will give you all-day comfort. While running you’ll notice the stableness. I can’t say it’s very responsive but it will not cause you any issues.
I haven’t personally tried the Revolution 5 but many runners have reported that that 6 is softer than the 5.
The outsole has a design that is computer generated. It was made to give you a natural feel with cushioning and full flexibility. It covers the whole bottom of the shoe. This outsole has fantastic traction. I took them out in rainy conditions and had no problems slipping.
A shoe that comes to mind that is similar would be the New Balance Fresh Foam 680v7. They both resemble one another, are budget-friendly, have breathable mesh, and a basic foam midsole.
Nike Revolution 6 Upper Unit

The upper of the shoe is made up of mesh. It’s a simple mesh that is layered across the entire shoe. This is stretchy and allows for it to contour to your foot.
Like I said before, it does feel slightly tight around the midfoot, and wished I would have gotten the “wide” option. The way the mesh outlines the feet makes me question its durability over time. I haven’t had any problems yet but could see after repetitive rubbing, that there may be some tearing.

The laces are made up of 100% recycled materials. They are standard laces and have caused some nuisances on the tops of my feet. There have been multiple runs that I have had to stop and adjust the laces. Once I got them situated they felt fine but I normally don’t have to do that.
The heel counter is cushioned and gives you the right amount of support needed.

The Nike Revolution 6 is a shoe that I guarantee you will feel like your money was well spent.
It’s a very minimalist running shoe that is a great all-over pick for the newer runner. Across-the-board, the Revolution 6 upper has no frills but offers total comfort and breathability. These shoes work great for warmer weather days.
