Nike Ja 1 “Scratch 2.0”

Ja Morant will make his official season debut tonight after serving a 25-game suspension handed down by the NBA. In lieu of the two-time All-Star’s return to the hardwood, Nike has continued to expand upon Morant’s inaugural signature discography, such as this monochrome take on the Nike Ja 1 that borrows the Memphis Grizzlies claw marks.

Making its first appearance on the “Scratch” colorway that honored the organization’s old-school uniforms from Vancouver, the latest Ja 1 features sizable claw marks that drag across the blank white outsole with a jet-black tint. Elsewhere, the Zoom Air-assisted silhouette adheres to a strict greyscale palette with colorless fervor concentrating atop the clad-mesh base layer, tongue and inner lining. In stark contrast, the sole unit’s pitch-dark complement ensues across the mudguard and the quarter overlays tumbled leather texture and profile swooshes while a smooth grey heel counter concludes the effort.
