Nike Cortez “Velvet Brown” FJ5180-200

new balance

Following a reserved 50th anniversary, the Nike Cortez still has some leftover styles to employ across the iconic silhouette, such as this supple “Velvet Brown” composition that lays claim to the entirety of the 1972 construction.

In stark difference to its brightly tooled collaborations with Union LA and Sacai, a pitch-dark ensemble is introduced by way of each side’s dark chocolate treatment of smooth suede. Color-matched along the mesh tongue construction and the cracked leather of the adjacent heel tab, a lightened infusion of milk chocolate anchors the vamp, heel counter and serrated quarter overlay. Save the pair’s vibrant orange insoles which proffer the only lightened embellishment, jet-black contrasts envelop the midfoot Swooshes and consecutive branding opportunities while the duo of brown shades concludes along the sole unit underfoot.
