Introduced to the market 33 years ago as a top-of-the-line running sneaker, the Nike Air Max 90 has become a lifestyle icon over the past few decades.

Although fall is upon us, Tinker Hatfield’s third Air Max design has recently surfaced with vibrant “Scream Green” accents. The shoe deviates from the understated finishes that’ve taken over countless offerings from Nike, Inc. in the last month, bringing spring and summer-friendly flair to the year’s gloomy months.

Light grey-colored suede reprises its original role, landing atop textile base layers that boast an experimental wave pattern from toe box to spine. Nike Sportswear styles with similar detailing have been rooted in topographic maps, but the latest Air Max 90‘s inspiration may be different. Signature mudguards take on a black-colored makeover like Hatfield’s blueprint from 1990. Yet, closer inspection reveals an abstract print that gives way to iridescent touches. Profile swooshes and badges on the top of the tongue also indulge in glossy finishes, further experimenting with the iconic shoe design. Titular “Scream Green” flair – most commonly associated with the debut Nike Air Huarache – takes over TPU components across the upper, the Air Max bubble and cassette, and zones throughout the outsole.
