Extraordinary details have emerged in court of how Nick Kyrgios helped police track down a man accused of stealing his Tesla from his mother at gunpoint.

The ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday heard the Aussie tennis star’s elderly mum Norlaila opened the door of her Canberra home only for an alleged masked thief to shove a gun in her face and demand the keys to Kyrgios’s lime green vehicle, parked in the driveway.

Mrs Kyrgios handed over the keys to thief – who can’t be named for legal reasons – and then ran inside screaming to her son and his manager Daniel Horsfall, according to a Canberra Times report.

The Wimbledon finalist then rang triple-0 – all while using the electric car’s special app on his phone to limit the Tesla’s speed to 80km/h an hour and track its movements for police, the court heard.

Cops then tracked the car to the side of a road in Watson and attempted to arrest the driver, the court heard.

The alleged robber is then said to have ‘sped off’ and driven on the wrong side of a road in an escape attempt, the court heard.

Eventually police allege the Tesla was blocked in a driveway by tactical officers and the driver was pulled from the car.

He was taken to hospital and then arrested, the Canberra Times reported.

The man hasn’t entered a plea and was refused bail by the court despite defence lawyers arguing he had children to raise.

The defendant, who is yet to enter pleas, is due back in court later this month.

Daily Mail Australia has approached ACT Policing for comment.
