NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie has always been honest in his media sessions, regardless of the subject matter. After Saturday’s loss, there wasn’t any reason sugarcoat anything because Brooklyn’s season ended just about 20 minutes before he came to the podium to give his thoughts on the game.

“The story of the series is man, like we couldn’t buy buckets man,” Dinwiddie said after posting 20 points and six assists in the Nets’ Game 4 96-88 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Dinwiddie shot 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point line, but the rest of the team shot just 26-67 (38.8%) from the field and 6-of-31 (19.3%) from behind the three-point line. As Dinwiddie said, this series for Brooklyn was marred by a few important flaws and shooting the basketball was one of them.

“We couldn’t make shots, especially from three,” Dinwiddie continued. “I mean, there’s another 24% shooting night and we were close to our 40 point mark (he meant 40 three-point shots), but you know, we can’t get 30%. So, you know, it is what it is.” After finishing the regular-season as the fifth-best team in the NBA shooting from three-point land (37.8%), Brooklyn finished the series shooting just 32.6% from the three-point arc, which would have ranked them as the worst three-point shooting team in the league.
