Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie is ranked as the 105th-best player in the NBA in The Ringer’s latest player rankings updated on May 1. Dinwiddie, 30, is ranked just in front of Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kyle Anderson and just behind New York Knicks guard RJ Barrett.

Dinwiddie came to the Nets from the Dallas Mavericks via the Kyrie Irving trade that happened a few days before the February trade deadline. Once arriving in Brooklyn for his second stint with the franchise, the 38th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft assumed the lead guard role for the Nets that Irving once held.

Dinwiddie ended the 2022-23 regular season averaging 16.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game while shooting 40.4% from the field and 28.9% from three-point land in 26 games for the Nets. While Dinwiddie’s stats were mostly the same from what he did for Dallas, he increased his APG by almost four per game while also being less efficient shooting the ball.

Dinwiddie has one more year left on his contract as he’s slated to earn a little over $20 million for the 2023-24 season. There hasn’t been much chatter over whether Brooklyn is looking to extend Dinwiddie, but he has been a valuable player at the guard spot for various teams over his nine-year career. Here’s what J. Kyle Mann had to say about Dinwiddie:

“Dinwiddie is like an actor who can give a movie a handful of charged moments—carrying a scene and becoming the most interesting thing in the frame without ever really being in the position to shoulder an entire story. He’s dependable with the ball in his hands, and he can at times even impersonate a primary option for a team, but he doesn’t necessarily need the ball to contribute in a positive way. Over his past five active seasons, he’s created well out of the pick-and-roll, but he’s also shot over 40 percent from 3 on catch-and-shoot attempts. That sort of versatility is harder and harder to find in the NBA.”
