The Brooklyn Nets have parted ways with assistant coaches Igor Kokoskov, Brian Keefe, and Tiago Splitter according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. According to what sources told Wojnarowski, head coach Jacque Vaughn is reshaping the coaching staff to what he prefers now that he is the head man in charge and seems empowered by the Nets to fill out his staff as he sees fit.

Kokoskov, former head coach of the Phoenix Suns for one season, came to the Nets before the start of the 2022-2023 season after being an assistant with the Dallas Mavericks during the previous season. Keefe has been with Brooklyn for the past two seasons after being an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2019-2020 campaign. Splitter has been an assistant coach and was part of player development for the past three seasons with the Nets.

It was reported earlier this season that Keefe was expected to be a candidate for the Detroit Pistons head-coaching job thanks to his prior relationship with general manager Troy Weaver during their days with the Thunder. It’s possible that Keefe being let go allows him to pursue that possibility with all of his energy.
