NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets forward Mikal Bridges has been on a tear for the Nets lately. In his first nine games with Brooklyn, Bridges is averaging 26.1 points per game while shooting 53.6% from the field and 50% from three-point land as he has been the first option for the Nets since the trades of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
“Just staying together the whole time,” Bridges, who scored 33 points in Sunday’s 102-86 win over the Charlotte Hornets, said when asked what allowed the Nets to finish the win. “Not getting too worried. Just staying here (in the game) at all times. And, that’s the biggest thing just you know, about to be on the road, there’s gonna be runs, the crowd’s gonna get into it. But, we just stay level-headed. As you get ready for the next play, I think that’s gonna help us.”
After leading by as many 37 points in the contest, Brooklyn took its foot off the gas in the second half and allowed Charlotte to get the score 96-82 with 4:28 left in the fourth quarter. However, the Nets had enough of a cushion to hold off the Hornets and walk away with a double-digit win.
